Salutations!

Hi there, I've been planning to introduce myself for a while now. You know, that guy who has been mentioned in one or two previous posts. Mentioned on the team page as the game concept expert and animator. Well that's me. I'm Martin de Haan, game designer and gamification consultant by trade. Knowing Florian from the time we worked for the same company, he approached me with the idea of creating a sequel to Call of Combat. It sounded like a funny joke that time but the first steps had been set...

January Status Report

Respected soldiers of Call of Combat, Please allow us to shine some light on the development progress: KaVa Gaming As per the 1st of January 2013, KaVa Gaming has penetrated the global game production & publishing market. This sounds a lot cooler than what it actually means. Because in a nutshell what it means is that we have set up a company which provides us with a legal framework that allows us to develop and publish Call of Combat v2 without any hassle. GDD: good progress is being made...

Extended planning features

Hey all, I’ve put up a new poll for you guys to vote on. We're interested in how you guys feel about AG's and related competitions. The results of the previous poll were pretty overwhelming: (67%) in favour of the implementation of some sort of strategic battle plan feature. Luckily, we agree! ;) So allow me to explain a bit what we have in mind here. We want to provide the commander (and others if the commander allows them to do so) with a quick (!) and effective way to communicate a...

Can you help us?

Dear CoC soldiers, We hope all of you had a great Christmas and New Years! Things on our side are going very well. Momentarily we are still working on getting the entire concept onto paper, making lots and lots of decisions as we go along. Later this week we will write a post about some of the features which we have decided on. We're looking forward to hearing your thoughts about this. As the start of the development is getting closer (this will start as soon as the concept is finished), we...

Prototyping

Hi all, Erik, I and Martin are working hard on working out the details of the game concept right now. However, while this is our main activity I'm already looking into some of the technical challenges and choices ahead of us. Otherwise, how would we know if some of these great ideas we have are feasible? :) So basically the first technical order of business will be to create some proof-of-concepts. In other words, create some quick prototypes to test some of the more challenging features we...

Holiday greetings!

Dear CoC friends, We wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year! Best regards, Florian & Erik The Development Team

Donations

Dear CoC addicts, After various donation requests we have decided to put up a donation mechanism. All money received will be used directly for the development of CoCv2. A list of issues that will possibly require extra funding can be found here . We will be setting up a 'Donation Hall of Fame' on this website. If you would like to be mentioned in the Hall of Fame please attach your nickname to your donation. If you prefer to donate anonymously just leave the field blank. Many thanks & best...

CoCv2 = more soldier nationalities

Hey everyone, There will be more than just two soldier nationalities in CoCv2. Eventhough we will most likely start out with only the US and Germany (in the initial golden release). The plan is to implement various other nationalities as we go along. We have asked you guys (in the poll) which nationalities you would like to see at war in CoCv2: 1. Russia (Soviet Union): 53% 2. The British Empire: 36% 3. Imperial Japan: 33% 4. Fascist Itality: 12% Thanks for voting. We will try our best to...

December Status Report

Dear CoC addicts, Let us start off by saying that its great to see so many CoC veterans still alive and kicking! Being veterans ourselves, and loving the game as much as you do, all that we want to do is to make a version of CoC which is just as fun (or even more fun!) to play in comparison to its predecessors. That being said, please allow us to give you some more insight about where we are right now and what lies ahead of us: Foundation of Kava Gaming We are currently in the process of...

Killing your darlings...

Hey everyone, I just want to quickly explain our approach in these early game design phases. Someone rightly noted that we should not overextend ourselves, that we should not aim to do everything. I completely agree. As far as I am concerned the approach to defining the scope of the game consists of three fundamental steps. Firstly , determine the kind of game you want to develop. We already know what we want here, as it will be the same kind of game in the same setting as the orignal Call of...
