December Status Report

Soldiers! Today we would like to brief you on everything that the team has been working on in the last couple of weeks. Call of Combat office The Call of Combat office has been fully operational for almost two weeks now. Its cheap, but more than good enough. Overall its very effective and a lot of fun to work together in the same space. Check out our last blog post for some superfantasticawesome pictures. The Call of Combat office!

Dear Call of Combat addicts, Believe it or not.... but Call of Combat has an office!! :D In order to bring the game to the next level we've been working hard on professionalizing our approach/the team. One of the obvious steps is of course an office. And what do you know? Now we have one :) Its a relatively cheap option; we can get kicked out at any time with only two weeks notice. But, we can also leave whenever we want with two weeks notice, making it quite flexible for us as well. And dont...

UX Update: Designing Game Controls

Greetings Soldiers, A game is all about interaction. You remember all these cut scenes some old games threw at you? That’s not going to happen with the new Call. We want you into the action, and we’re going to make it good. Currently we’re working on designing the basic controls. To design the controls we are looking at the modern gaming standards. The use of mouse and keyboard will be our main focus. As in most games the left hand will be on the left of the keyboard. The hotkeys that need to...

November progress update - Map cover and chat

Fellow soldiers! Those who’ve been following us on facebook and twitter will know we have been very busy creating artwork for one of the new maps we will be making (which is loosely based on the classic Farm Fight map). These are not screenshots from within the game, but rather concept art we created so we know what we want the maps to look like. We are not quite ready to disclose the map in its entirety just yet, as it is not yet final and we still need to work out how we will actually...

November status report

Soldiers! It is high time for a new status report. Partly because I just noticed that our last blog post was eight days ago... So much for our goal to post a new update every week.. We promise to do better next week. What is happening at the moment regarding Call of Combat? Well... quite simply put: a lot, which is great! Among other things, we are currently working towards some proper professionalization. We simply NEED to do this in order to launch a great new Call of Combat. Also to keep...

Social media: show us your love!

Soldiers! Salute. As you might have noticed, the wheels have been turning at full speed lately. Florian and I have turned our biggest hobby into our profession. And we are working hard on turning this new dream into reality. This is great for us, great for the game and thus great for you? :) Because in the end, we are all here because we love Call of Combat. There are a couple of issues I would like to talk about today: Weekly new blog posts From here on out our goal is to publish a new blog...

Development update: multiplayer!

Hey everyone, As you’ve seen in the previous update our 3D artists are hard at work creating models and animations for integration into the game. But luckily the actual coding of the game has also made some nice process! Our main coding priority these last few weeks has been multiplayer. In our current prototype it is now possible to choose a name and team, join a room and run around in that room together with other players. Unfortunately, the shooting and killing mechanic has not been fully...

3D Developments (new models & animations!)

Soldiers! I'd like to show you some exciting new 3D developments today. In his last blog post Florian mentioned a number of designers that have joined our team recently. The result is several (the first!) map objects and animations :) But before I show you some of our new designs, I'd like to mention that Luke (Scowen; CoC veteran) and Zander have joined our team as well. This is great news because they are dedicated to making the first steps towards a transition from blog to proper game site...
